Five Easy Steps to Hold Cellulite at Bay

The appearance of cellulite often ruins a perfectly good day for any woman, but a healthy lifestyle can help you to minimise and prevent cellulite before it comes to blight your self-confidence. The appearance of cellulite is caused by a variety of factors, such as poor diet, age, levels of body fat and even genetics. Despite this, you can prevent or minimise cellulite by including the following steps into your daily routine.

Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet will really help you to avoid developing cellulite. Always try and get at least five portions of fruit and veg a day, with at least two of those portions being leafy green vegetables. In additional, by drinking at least 2 litres of water every day, you can wash out the cellulite-causing toxins in your body from your food consumption. You can minimise these toxins by avoiding deep-fried foods, foods full of sugar, chocolate, sweets and fizzy drinks. These toxins are so bad because they cause fat and fluid retention (which contributes to the appearance of cellulite!).

Stimulate your lymph and blood flow

Try using a body brush or loofah sponge whenever you get in the shower or have a bath. This will also help to get rid of dead skin cells and increase new ones to grow for a fresh, youthful appearance. You should brush your skin gently, in a circular motion, and you shouldn’t cause any irritation or reddening.

Avoid alcohol and tobacco

Cigarettes and alcohol should be avoided if you hope to prevent cellulite developing. This is because their harmful toxins slow down or damage the function of your liver and kidneys (as well as your lungs!), making it increasingly harder for your body to eliminate waste products which help to form cellulite.

Exercise regularly

Anyone can get cellulite, but it’s no secret that you’re more likely to have cellulite if you’re overweight. By exercising for just an hour a day, such as aerobics, jogging, running or cycling, will burn your body fat from all over and prevent the onset of cellulite.

Have regular anti-cellulite massage treatments

Regular anti-cellulite massages, such as rolletic massage, will not only give you some time to relax and unwind, it’ll help to both minimise the appearance of any pre-existing cellulite and prevent new cellulite from developing. Your massage therapist will be able to give you a tailored consultation about your needs.
